Release Notes

clipShow Beta 3 includes bug fixes reported from Beta 2, in addition to a redesigned playlist creation UI.
Please note that this plug-in will only run on Windows Vista Media Center

System Requirements
  • Windows Vista SP1
  • Windows Search v4.0

New Features
  • New single video item playback that will create a playlist of like media or media found in the same directory
  • Added support for MOV and MP4 files (please note that playback of MP4 files in VMC requires an unsupported registry hack documented here:http://windowsmediacenter.blogspot.com/2008/04/want-to-play-mp4-movies-in-xbox-360.html)
  • A new Settings screen that can configure the following capabilities:
    • Use Visual Effects (fade in/out during vide playback)
    • Use Media Center Full Screen (specify whether to use clipShow's full screen or Vista Media Center's full screen playback)
    • Create external playlists from clipShow (this feature will create an external playlist that can be played outside of clipShow. The external playlists can be found in the Public Videos folder)

Installation instructions
  • Please be sure to uninstall any previous Beta release (Use the Windows Vista Control Panel to uninstall)
  • Both a x64 and x86 installer is available for this release
  • Prior to using the plug-in on a Media Center extender (XBOX, LinkSys, etc), be sure to run the plug-in on the Windows Vista machine to ensure proper indexing settings are created

Known Issues with Beta 3
  • During the first time the plug-in is run, an exception with an HRESULT error message may be raised by the plug-in (Column does not exist). Click OK and the plug-in will continue to initialize.
  • During initialization on an Media Center extender, an exception may be raised by the plug-in (Object reference not set to an instance of an object). Click OK and the plug-in will continue to initialize.
  • Playlists cannot be removed from within the clipShow UI. To remove playlists, open the "C:\ProgramData\clipShow Settings\MediaPlaylists" folder and remove the playlist XML file. This will be addressed in a future release
