Hi Dave,

I have a test release that does allow integration with a Windows Home Server. It requires that PowerPack 3 (which is in beta) be installed on the Server and a refreshed client installation on the Media Center. I will be testing over the weekend and will plan to post an update by Monday.

Hi Dave,

I have confirmed that the current version of the plug-in does not support playing media hosted on a remote WHS (or any external file server). I am working on fix for this, but it may take a few weeks for me to get it completed. Sorry for the problem with your setup.

Chandler,

I have Windows 7 RTM and WHS PP2. Videos are stored on WHS. UNC path pointing to Videos folder on WHS is added to the W7's Video Library. I can see videos in WMC's video library. Only local videos are showing in clipShow.

What am I missing?

Hello,

By design clipShow uses Windows 7 Search to find video media from the Video Library. To ensure the plug-in can access your media on external drives, be sure to associate the external source media folder with the Videos Library by right-mouse clicking on the folder and selecting Include in library->Videos.

I have tested it on my own Linksys DMA2200, albeit with a 32-bit PC, with no issues. The only issue I can think of is that the MCX account your DMA2200 uses has limited access rights to either the media files or limited rights to access local settings. You might try raising the priveleges of that account by either making a "Standard User" or "Admin" temporarily to see if the issue is resolved. Also, you may want to reassign the device to your VMC after having installed the plug-in.

Hi,

This program sounds like exactly what I could use, so I am expecially frustrated that it is not working. My VMC is running 64 bit Home Premium, and I installed the 64 bit version of clipshow. I can run the app from the PC, and managed to save one playlist, I think, but when I load the clipShow program from my MCE, which is a Linksys DMA2200, with no connection or other issues otherwise, I get an error: Invalid Application, and the option to disable the program.

I have tried rebooting both the MCE and the PC, uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Is clipshow able to stream to the xbox 360 extender?
so I can have the same clipshow functions on the xbox360 as well as the pc

First of all Nice plugin, i have been looking for something like this but it doesn’t seem to be able to find the tumble for the formats i need on my computer i have installed the Vista codec pack
and i am currently using my media center to play music videos at random my generating playlists but it would be

really nice if you could include this in the code
also the duration button if that could be a part of the settings menu insted + you could have another menu for shuffle all in the standart defined video library

Thanks for the new release. I must be doing something wrong though. I uninstalled the prior version then installed the latest, and I still can't get the MTS files to show. My MTS files are all located under the Public Videos folder.

I also can't get the app to stop playing videos once it starts. Even selecting End under Shuffle doesn't stop them. It just stops the current one, and a new one starts a couple seconds later. Seems that I need to Re-start VMC to stop the playback.

I do appreciate that you've create this plug-in to fill a real shortcoming of VMC. I'll keep an eye out for new releases if they appear.

Thank you for the feedback regarding clipShow.

Regarding playback of MTS files, several have indicated interest in this. As a result, I have provided a release (clipShow 1.1) which adds AVCHD support for browsing media inside the shell. Please let me know if this release addressed your issue for playback of MTS files.

Regarding turning off the Shuffle Mode, select the "End" menu item at the top right of the playback screen to stop the clipShow queue. Also, hitting the back button to browse media and having clips continue to play is a known issue without a fix right now.

I've been looking for a way to play our videos in sequence or shuffled, just like you can do with pictures. Thanks for making this plug-in to make this possible.

It works pretty well for my avi files, but I wasn't able to get it to play the MTS files from my HD camcorder. I did edit the xml file to include that type, but no luck so far. Not sure if I need to do something to get it to re-scan for files. It also didn't pick up my MPG files, despite that MP* listing in the XML file - not sure why.

Dumb question time: How do you stop the Shuffle Mode? Seems that once I start it, I can't stop it without completely changing to another section of VMC (like viewing a recorded TV show). Pressing stop just goes to the next clip, pressing previous takes me to the Clipshow screen, but clips continue to play in background.

Finally, the longer I leave the Shuffle All playback running, the less repsonsive the system seems to become (it takes a while to respond to remote button presses). I'll experiment more to see if this is real, or just a one time thing.

I use windows media center to play .mts files from my avchd canon hg10 camcorder. I had to setup coreavc to make it work but it does a great job now. I like the idea of capturing my movies with my camcorder onto the sdcard then dropping them into a main folder i have set called "2008". The ClipShow is a perfect solution for my viewing since mts and avchd files are difficult to edit being so large and with such lack of support.

Can you create a patch to allow for clip show to recognize .mts and .m2ts files in the library?

Tried what you said but still not indexing mpeg video also I am getting an error "index was out of range.Must be non negative and less than size of collection Parameter name:index."Any ideas?

Yes. Simply add a shortcut link to the content folder you would like clipShow to index in either your Videos folder or the Public Videos folder.

After installing ClipShow I am now no longer able to run my XBox 360 extender to connect to Media Center until I uninstall CS. Any known issues with this? Media Center works just fine with CS installed when run directly on Vista.

so from clipshow I can only make playlist from media in other playlists is this correct? if so would it be possible to add a link in middle section to video library so I can add any media from video library without having to exit the clipshow part and go into program library and click on the playlist part? Simply put add a link to crate playlists from scratch from where you view the playlists.As for the zoom function I agree the way you have it is better than having the media center menu screen between each clip

Regarding the playlist editor, you should see a "band" at the bottom of the screen (the startup image appears in the bottom left corner of the screen) when you select Make Playlist. From there click on the media items in the middle section to begin building the playlist. (Let me know if you see something else)

The missing Zoom setting in full screen is a by-product of not using the FullScreen method in VMC (instead I make invisible all other elements except the video view port). The reason I choose this method was that I had feedback regarding when a video clip playing in its entirety would end and another would begin. VMC would always show the blue screen menu (Done,Restart,Delete) which would take away from the clipping effect I wanted to achieve. A workaround I have found is to set the Zoom prior to running clipShow. I realize this will not work for all media types with different aspect ratios in playback, but I will look into this and see about addressing this in a future release.

For changing the way clipShow transitions between clips, please see my revised Release Notes on how to turn off the fade out and fade in transition during media playback. For some video cards, this can be taxing and turning off fading should help in performance.

Also, depending upon where your media is stored (network vs shared local drive) there may be some sluggishness when first running the plug-in due to the way it creates the video thumbnails. Over time the plug-in will complete its work of creating the thumbnails for all of the found media. (Hint, leave the plug-in on the Browse screen for about ten minutes and that will ensure it finishes the work)
